Stunt coordination | The Fight Assistants
The use of trained Fight Assistants with experience in live fighting and marital arts, and experience in handling and carrying weapons, makes filming and rehearsing easier and more cost effective.
Fight Assistants can work along side actors, they can double for people and they can stand in. Trained Fight Assistants also make it easier for Phil to train a large amount of extras simultaneously. A fight scene in the foreground between trained fighters can be supplemented with extras wiping screen and other trained Fight Assistants pausing in various positions to begin or finish other small fight vignettes.
A Fight Assistant can operate as a second unit Fight Director or Assistant Fight Director, depending on their level of training. The personnel listed in the section below are chosen for their experience, skill and aesthetics. Their abilities and potentials are known to Phil Burthem personally and they have all been trained by him. If a project is to take place outside the UK, this section demonstrates the extent of personnel available in different locations. Phil also has over 300 fighting extras on hand.
Fight Assistant Skills include:
Swords, Knives, Spears, Axes, Axe Throwing, Archery, Horse riding, Modern Firearms (Subject to Section 5 Armourer and Health and Safety etc.)
Phil has links to and works with stunt coordinators and stuntmen throughout Europe.
